This initial session is the first of four sessions that will set the stage for the M-Enabling Summit Global Conference and Showcase in Washington, D.C. from 5-6 June 2013. This meeting of the leaders in mobile accessibility featured four expert panels, 20 speakers among senior organizations, and disability advocates and industry leaders, including Karen Peltz Strauss, Deputy Chief of the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau for the FCC; Jeanine Poltronieri, AT&T Assistant Vice President of Federal Regulatory, and other representatives of CTIA; IBM; Nuance; Verizon; Sprint; and T-Mobile.

The panels reviewed the very latest mobile accessibility innovations and their benefits for senior users and persons with disabilities.

The IDPP participated in the 2011M-Enabling Summit this past December, and gave a live virtual report that featured several of the summit’s speakers, including Mr. Fred Doulton, UN Secretariat for the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; Mr. Axel Leblois, Executive Director of G3ict; and Ms. Deepti Samant, Director of International Programs at the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University.

The next Global Briefing Tour stops will include Beijing, Milan, and Moscow. The M-Enabling program is sponsored by the Global Initiative for Inclusive ICTs (G3ict).
