Sharifah Mariam Binti Mohammed Alhabshi
Dr. Sharifah Mariam Binti Mohammed Alhabshi is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International) of the International Institute on Policy and Management at University of Malaya. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Malaysia Centre for Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MaCGDI). As an expert in public policy and geoinformation, Dr. Sharifah has consistently provided her expertise at the national and international levels in various leadership and advisory capacities, including serving as a Technical Advisor to the Malaysia Centre for Geospatial Data Infrastructure, Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment in 2007, and a consultant to the ASEAN and ASEAN +3 Secretariats in 2008. From 2006-2007, she led the diagnostic and evaluative study on developing and implementing Malaysia geoportal and geospatial data centre on behalf of the Malaysian Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment. In 2007, Dr. Sharifah was jointly appointed project leader by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies and the Government of Japan to conduct an Evaluation of 10 Official Japanese Assistance Projects to Malaysia. In 2008-2009, she contributed her expertise to ASEAN +3 to create a Development of Corporate Credit Information Database and Credit Guarantee System. Dr. Sharifah was awarded Outstanding Service Award by University of Malaya in 2008, and received a University of Malaya Training Award for Improving Risk Management: Making Risk a Focus on Continuous Improvement in 2007. Her book, “Case Studies on Government Programs and Policies,” was published by University of Malaya in 2009. Other recent publications include book chapters, “What we have and not: E-Government in Malaysia” and "e-Government in Malaysia: Barriers and Progress," published by Cairo University and IGI Global, Pennsylvania, respectively.
