IDPP Capacity Building Participant Recognized for Disability Advocacy

The IDPP is proud to announce that capacity building participant Ms. Jane Derecho was honored with receiving the 2015 Outstanding Women of Iloilo City Award for her work in disability rights advocacy and special education during a ceremony on 31 March 2015 in Iloilo City, Philippines. Ms. Derecho was among 15 women to be honored by Mayor Jeb Patrick E. Mabilog during a widely attended ceremony.

“We give honor to the valuable contributions of women in various fields of endeavor as they play significant roles in nation-building and progress of society,” stressed Mayor Mabilog during the event.

The ceremony marked the end of Women’s Month (March) in the Philippines. The City Hall’s Gender and Development Team, together with the Iloilo City Council’s Offices of Committees on Women and Family Relations and Social Services, curate this event to recognize and celebrate the roles that women continue to have in the development of Iloilo City.

Congratulations, Jane!
