COTELCO/IDPP New Sr. Faculty Associate Dr. Charmaine Misalucha

Drs. Charmaine Misalucha and Derrick Cogburn (photo)IDPP and COTELCO are delighted to welcome U.S.-ASEAN Fulbright Fellow and Assistant Professor at De La Salle University Dr. Charmaine Misalucha as its newest Senior Faculty Associate. Dr. Misalucha has served as a U.S.-ASEAN Fulbright Fellow at the ASEAN Studies Center in the School of International Service (SIS) at American University (AU) from September through December 2013. She is one of the first seven Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Visiting Scholars selected through the Fulbright U.S.-ASEAN Initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. During her Fulbright experience at AU SIS, the IDPP hosted Dr. Misalucha by providing an office space for her in its offices.

Professor Misalucha is also a tenured assistant professor in the Department of International Studies at De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines. The College of Saint Benilde within the De La Salle-Philippines system is one of two IDPP university partners in the Philippines. Professor Misalucha teaches undergraduate and graduate classes at De La Salle University. Her expertise lies in ASEAN-US relations.

Among other initiatives, Dr. Misalucha will join the COTELCO and IDPP research teams working on a comparative case study of Article 33 – Implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The comparative case study examines CRPD implementation mechanisms and processes in the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Dr. Misalucha received her PhD in International Relations from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies of the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
