IDPP Staff Nominated for 'PWD of the Year' Apolinario Mabini Award
IDPP Regional Support Staff Ms. Della Leonor has been nominated to receive the Person With Disabilities (PWD) of the Year 27th Apolinario Mabini Award presented by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled. The PWD of the Year Award is given to a Filipino with a disability who, through outstanding achievement in the field of disability rights and education, has become a leader in the Filipino disability community and an example for other Filipinos with disabilities.
Named after the first Prime Minister of the Philippines, the Apolinario Mabini Awards are held every two years to honor individuals, groups, and agencies that have made outstanding contributions in the field of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and disability rights in the Philippines and abroad.
Ms. Leonor began her work as IDPP Regional Support Staff after receiving her Master’s in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP) degree in August 2012. She currently assists with CIDP outreach efforts and course delivery. As a result of her active role in the Filipino disability community, Ms. Leonor was elected by representatives of basic sectors and civil society organizations to become Capiz Province’s Focal Person during the National Anti-Poverty Commission's “Harnessing Basic Sector/Civil Society Collectivity and Capacities on the Ground” seminar held in November of 2012.
The IDPP congratulates Ms. Leonor on this recognition!
