Dr. Derrick Cogburn Speaks at CCCC 2014 Annual Convention

Conference on College Composition and Communication LOGOIDPP/COTELCO Executive Director Dr. Derrick Cogburn delivered a keynote presentation on the IDPP and disability and development at the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) 2014 Annual Convention (#4C14) from 9:30-10:45am US EST on 22 March 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The presentation was entitled “Disability and Development as a Global ‘Grand Challenge’: Collaborative Research Opportunities Around the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Post-2015 Development Agenda."

The presentation addressed four main topics: the background of the IDPP and its global accessible cyberlearning environment; the integration of disability policy in post-2015 development agenda; the complex international frameworks that will implement and sustainthis new rights-based environment for persons with disabilities; and a collaborative research agenda that addresses the 'Grand Challenge' of disability and development.

The CCCC supports and promotes the teaching and study of college composition and communication by 1) sponsoring meetings and publishing scholarly materials for the exchange of knowledge about composition, composition pedagogy and rhetoric; 2) supporting a wide range of research on composition, communication and rhetoric; 3) working to enhance the conditions for learning and teaching college composition and to promote professional development; and 4) acting as an advocate for language and literacy education nationally and internationally.
