IDPP Participates in 27th Annual CSUN Conference

Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference logoThe Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) participated in the 27th Annual International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference hosted by the Center on Disabilities at California State University-Northridge (CSUN) in San Diego, California from 27 February – 3 March 2012. IDPP/COTELCO Director of Technology Mr. Clyde White Jr. attended the week-long conference, while Executive Director Dr. Derrick L. Cogburn attended pre-conference workshops. The conference is a premier event within the international disability community and the largest conference of its kind in the world.

The conference offered a gathering for researchers, practitioners, exhibitors, users, and speakers to share knowledge, new developments, and best practices in the assistive technology field. The event showcased innovative technologies and solutions that continue removing barriers to the full participation of persons with disabilities in educational, workplace, and social settings.

The conference was an invaluable opportunity for the IDPP to network with a vast array of accessibility experts and vendors. The IDPP met with Apple, Inc., an opportunity organized by IDPP Program Coordinator for Outreach and Capacity Building Mr. Joni Yulianto. Mr. White participated in a session on Blackboard Collaborate accessibility and met with members of the Blackboard Collaborate Accessibility Task Force. With more than 4,800 participants from around the world at last year's conference, the event was also an excellent venue through which to communicate the IDPP's work and Master's of International Affairs in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP) program.
