IDPP Staff Elected Civil Society Focal Person for Philippines Province
IDPP Regional Support Staff Ms. Della Leonor was elected by representatives of the Capiz Province’s basic sectors and civil society organizations (CSOs) to become the province’s Focal Person during the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC)’s “Harnessing Basic Sector/Civil Society Collectivity and Capacities on the Ground” seminar. The seminar, which took place on November 20-24 in Iloilo City, Philippines was attended by representatives from CSOs from five regions in the Philippines, providing a forum to exchange best practices on implementation of human rights programs across the country.
During the seminar, Ms. Leonor had the opportunity to discuss the IDPP and CIDP Master's program with conference participants, many of whom represented prominent CSOs and universities in the Philippines, including Mindanao State University and University of St. La Salle-Bacolod City.
In this role, Ms. Leonor will provide training to CSOs and basic sector representatives on how to meet their developmental goals by forging partnerships with the local government and answering their communities’ needs from the bottom-up. As part of the new position, Ms. Leonor will be participating in a training on November 26-27 in Manila, Philippines.
