IDPP welcomes G3ict as Outreach Partner
The IDPP is delighted to announce that the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), or G3ict, has joined the IDPP’S global network researching and promoting disability policies. G3ict joins two existing prominent IDPP outreach partners, the Asia-Pacific Development Center on Disability (APCD) and the International Council for Education of People with Visual Impairment (ICEVI) and 19 renowned universities across the ASEAN region and around the world.
The IDPP has a long history of collaborating with G3ict, particularly in their mutual work with the Internet Governance Forum; G3ict’s annual M-Enabling Summit; and most recently, G3ict serving as a co-sponsor of the IDPP’s Multistakeholder Roundtable on Inclusive Education Policy co-hosted by IDPP and University of Malaya during the 2014 IDPP Annual Meeting in August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
G3ict is an advocacy initiative launched in December 2006 by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development, in cooperation with the Secretariat for the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at UN DESA. Its mission is to facilitate and support the implementation of the dispositions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on the accessibility of ICTs and assistive technologies. G3ict relies on an international network of ICT accessibility experts to develop and promote good practices, technical resources and benchmarks for ICT accessibility advocates around the world.
The IDPP is excited to formally welcome G3ict to its global network!
