Dr. Banchong Mahaisavariya, MD is Senior Vice President and Professor of Orthopaedics at Mahidol University. He is former Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and also a Member of the Mahidol University Council. He has been a Council Member at the Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeon of Thailand since 1998. He was Chairman of the Subcommittee Research Methodology (1993-2002) 2nd Vice President (2006-2008 and 2010-2011) and Secretary General (2004-2006) of The Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeon of Thailand. He joined the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University in 1993. In 2005, Dr. Mahaisavariya obtained C11 Professorship. From 2000-2006, he severed as Assistant Dean for Academic Affair in the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital. He has also been Deputy Dean for Research in the Faculty of Post-Graduate Study and Deputy Dean for Post-Graduate Education at the Faculty of Medicine in Siriraj Hospital.
Dr. Mahaisavariya served as Instructor, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University. He has held several Fellowships, including ASEAN-AOA Traveling Fellow (2000) and the Thailand-Austrian Government Scholarship (2001). From 1994 until 2008, he was Editor of the Journal of Thai Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is currently a Member of Asia Pacific Orthopedic Association, Secretary of AO Alumni Association Thai Chapter. He has been a Founding Member of Asian Association for Dynamic Osteosynthesis (AADO) since 1992.
Dr. Mahaisavariya has won a numerous awards, including the National Award for Best Project in Medical Technology in Thailand 2007 entitled: “Rapid Prototyping in Medicine” and Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year (2001 and 2006). He earned his MD from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in 1979.
