Dr. M.N.G. Mani is Chief Executive Officer of the International Council for Education of People With Visual Impairment (ICEVI). Until July 2006, he served as the Principal of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Education, Coimbatore and also served as the first Dean of the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education, Vivekananda University. He is also currently working as Executive Director of the Global Campaign on Education For All Children with Visual Impairment (EFA-VI). He is the Founder-President of the UDIS (You and the Disabled) Forum. He is the Associate Editor of The Educator, a biannual magazine of the ICEVI. He served/is serving in many professional committees of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), University Grants Commission (UGC), National Institutes for the Handicapped (NIs), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Planning Commission Steering Committee on Disability, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Tamil Nadu Open University, Pondicherry University, All India Association for Educational Technology and many other universities.
Dr. Mani is currently serving as the Coordinator of CBM’s global Advisory Working Group on Education of Children with Visual Impairment (AWG-EVI). He is the recipient of many awards, including Rotary’s Vocational Excellence Award, Rustom Alphaiwala Award, and Vivekananda National Award in recognition of his professional work. He obtained two Doctoral Degrees – one in General Education from India and the other in Special Education from the United States of America at the University of Northern Colorado.
