IDPP Presentation at Philippines Regional Consultation with PWDs
IDPP regional support staff Ms. Della Leonor presented the IDPP and CIDP Master’s program at the Philippines Regional Consultation with Stakeholders and Persons with Disabilities for Regions VI-X in Cebu, Philippines from 7-9 November 2012.
The Philippines National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) organized the workshop. The event aimed to identify issues concerning persons with disabilities (PWDs) and gather recommendations for the development of the Philippine Plan of Action for the Third Asia Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities 2013-2022 based on the Incheon Strategy.
Ms. Leonor presented an overview of the IDPP and Master’s in Comparative and International Disability Policy (CIDP) program to workshop participants. Her presentation focused on the mission and vision of the IDPP and its centerpiece CIDP Master’s program. As a CIDP alumni, Ms. Leonor shared her first-hand experiences in the program and knowledge and skills gained, including understanding and analyzing public policies related to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
The workshop hosted 60 PWD, social welfare, and development leaders in each of the designated regions in the Philippines.
