IDPP Program Associate Helps Develop Philippines Action Plan
Ms. Della Leonor participated at the Orientation of Health Care Providers Stakeholders on the Philippine Registry for Persons with Disabilities in Iloilo City, Philippines on 4-5 June 2015. The orientation invited provincial health workers, persons with disability focal persons, social workers and health focal persons to discuss national and local implementation strategies for the Philippine Registry for Persons with Disability (PRPWD), an online registration system for persons with disabilities that has become an important tool for gathering accurate statistics on disability prevalence across the country. As the representative of Capiz Province, Ms. Leonor helped develop an Action Plan for full implementation of PRPWD that she presented to participants.
The Philippine Registry for Persons with Disability (PRPWD) is an online application system for the registration of persons with disabilities and for the issuance of unique identification numbers used to acquire discounts and other benefits. The system was system was created in view of Republic Act 7277 otherwise known as the “Magna Carta for Disabled Persons,” and the Strategic Framework and Operational Guidelines for the implementation of Health Programs for Persons with Disabilities (DOH Administrative Order 2007-0003).
