The World Report on Disability

The World Report on Disability, jointly prepared by the World Health Organization and the World Bank, was released in June of 2011.  This report provides a comprehensive overview of nature of disability at the international level.  It highlights the extent of disabilities worldwide, barriers that persons with disabilities (PWDS) face in their daily lives, and possible solutions to these pervasive barriers.  PWDs continue to face obstacles in healthcare, education, and employment.  Governments, members of civil society, the private sector, and academia should continue to work to promote inclusive development and to ensure that all individuals have equal opportunities to capitalize on their own abilities.
